Is It Slow?
We use the Virtual Server Room at the Kinetix offices, and doing most office tasks like email and document work I can't tell the difference. I'm not going to lie to you. I could notice a difference in speed when I did certain things like printing, working with large files or using a "server-intensive" applications. But it's not unbearable, it's just noticeable to a power user like me.
We offer an optional performance enhancing local file cache server that makes everything just as fast as if you had the server sitting next to you. But most of our clients don't bother with that unless they are working with very large files.
What If You Don't Like It Or Outgrow It?
We will help you transition your server exactly as it is, to new hardware in your office. If you grow beyond the 75 user limit, we will help you migrate all the data and email to a new Windows server in your office.
How Much Does It Cost?
Everything is included. I mean everything! The hardware, the software licenses, the storage, and the backup. You may need to upgrade your internet access speed but that's very cheap these days. You may also need to buy a corporate-grade firewall, but that's a strongly recommended investment anyway.
At this time, we offer only Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 as a server choice. Microsoft has a limit of 75 users on the Small Business Server so that allows us to charge a single monthly fee no matter how much you use it. The cost is $695 per month.
